In September 2022, a 22-year-old resident of the Beryslav district joined the work of the so-called"precinct election commission" operating in the occupied village of Maksym Gorky.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of the Kherson region, the woman was preparing to hold a pseudo-referendum on secession from Ukraine and joining the Russian Federation.

"The convict went to the houses of local residents, urging them to put the necessary "mark in the ballots". She kept a record of people who "voted". After the "voting" was completed, she handed over the ballots to the Russian military for further falsification of the results," the statement said.

The court sentenced her to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. She was also deprived of the right to hold positions in state and local government bodies, state and municipal enterprises, institutions and organizations providing public services. She is also banned from engaging in activities related to the electoral process and the referendum for a period of 15 years. The verdict was passed in absentia. The convict will serve her sentence from the moment of her arrest.

Earlier, a resident of Chornobaivka, Kherson region, was sentenced to 6 years in prison with confiscation of property for organizing a fake referendum. Together with the armed military, the woman went to the homes of local residents, intimidated them and forced them to "vote" for Russia.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office brought to court the case of a resident of Henichesk who was elected as a deputy to the "Kherson Regional Duma of the first convocation" from the local branch of the political party of the aggressor state, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. Later, she was elected as a deputy of the "council of deputies of the Kakhovka municipal district of the first convocation" on the list of this political party.
