An entrepreneur from Podilskyi district of Odesa region was sentenced to one year in prison, which was immediately replaced by a probationary period of one year for unauthorized occupation of a land plot in a protected zone.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

During the investigation, police found that last fall, a man without permits illegally plowed and sowed winter wheat on a land plot of the Savranska community of about 11 hectares, which is part of the coastal protection zone of the Southern Bug River.

By his actions, the offender caused material damage to the community in the amount of over UAH 347 thousand. At the request of the police, the court seized the land with crops.

Law enforcement officers sent to the court an indictment under Part 2 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, as well as a plea agreement concluded between the man and the prosecutor.

After examining the materials and taking into account the accused's guilty plea, sincere remorse and full compensation for the damage caused, the court sentenced the man to death.

In May, the Tarutino District Court of Odesa Oblast found a Sarata native guilty of illegal appropriation of the surface layer of water fund lands on a particularly large scale and fined him UAH 17,000. The man illegally dug a pond near the Chiligider River and filled it with its waters.

Earlier, a farmer from Izmail district in Odesa region was accused of unauthorized seizure of a land plot near Lake Katlabukh. The agronomist was interested in the land plot. He decided to cultivate and plant it without having any permits for the land.
