Soldiers of the Podil border guard detachment detained five men in Odesa region for attempting to illegally cross the border with the Transnistrian region of Moldova.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The travelers were caught by technical means of border protection, so the border guards quickly spotted them and sent a border patrol to the area.

According to the Border Guard Service, the residents of Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions intended to illegally cross the Transnistrian segment of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. To realize their plan, the men used the advice of a telegram channel administrator. On the advice of the latter, the offenders arrived at the gathering point, from where they had to walk more than 25 kilometers to the state border, but never made it. In case of a successful smuggling, the administrator would have received UAH 120 thousand from each traveler on a crypto wallet.

Reports were drawn up against the violators under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine." The cases were sent to court.

The case against a Kharkiv law enforcement officer who organized the illegal departure of a person liable for military service to Moldova via Odesa for money was referred to court. The offender explained that he would have to cross the border on foot, using disguises to avoid detection by border guards. On the Moldovan side, his client was to be met by people who would handle further paperwork.

Also, two Ukrainian citizens were detained by border guards of the Podilsky detachment near the village of Pavlivka, Rozdilnyansky district, Odesa region, while trying to illegally cross the Transnistrian segment of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
