The mayor of Mykolaiv has scheduled the 48th session of the city council for October 30. The deputies plan to consider key programs for development, social protection and renovation of the city's infrastructure.

The relevant decision was signed by Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych.

The meeting will take place on October 30 at 11:00 a.m. in a remote format via video conference, and the live stream will be available on the official YouTube channel and the city council website. Intent will traditionally broadcast the event online.

The deputies will consider budgetary, land and current issues, including the extension of the term and amendments to the city Program for the Development and Functioning of the Ukrainian Language for 2023-2025, amendments to the Program for Economic and Social Development of the city for 2024-2026, as well as the establishment of a competition commission to elect independent members of the supervisory board of the municipal non-profit enterprise City Hospital No. 4.

In addition, the executive committee of Mykolaiv submitted to the deputies draft amendments to theSocial Protection Program for 2024-2026, the total funding of which is about UAH 1.5 billion, most of which will be allocated from the city budget.

It is also proposed to amend the Program for Economic and Social Development of the City, which provides for the financing of a number of investment projects aimed at modernizing social and engineering infrastructure, developing municipal services, and improving data protection.

The previous, forty-seventh, regular session of the city council lasted more than a month and ended only on September 30, at the fifth attempt. Due to constant postponements, cancellations, and lack of quorum, the deputies were able to close the meeting, which began on August 28. The agenda included more than 70 issues, including one of the key ones on amending the Program for Reforming and Developing Mykolaiv's Housing and Utilities for 2025-2029, aimed at improving the work of utilities and managing city infrastructure more efficiently.

It is worth noting that Mykolaiv City Council has been holding its sessions remotely for more than two years. However, despite the convenience of the online format, civic activists and some deputies have repeatedly drawn attention to transparency issues: during broadcasts, it is not always clear who is present at the meeting, and the voting system does not provide a complete picture of deputies' participation in decision-making.
