Ballistic missile strike in Odesa: a port worker is killed, many injured

On May 23, Russia launched two ballistic missiles at the port infrastructure of Odesa.

According to the head of the Odesa Sea Port Authority, Oleh Kiper, a port worker was killed in the attack. Eight other people were injured: four in serious condition, two in moderate condition, and two with minor injuries. All the victims are being provided with the necessary medical care, and doctors are fighting for their lives and health.

The ballistic attack also damaged the port's critical infrastructure.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Communities and Territories Development, said that the engine room was damaged, windows and doors in administrative buildings were smashed, and vehicles and equipment were destroyed.

"It was an ordinary working day in an ordinary Ukrainian port. People were working, equipment was reloading containers. There was not a single military facility, only civilian infrastructure," the minister emphasized.

According to him, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has damaged or destroyed almost 400 port infrastructure facilities, more than 30 vessels and injured 106 civilians.
