Kyiv's Pechersk District Court has reduced bail for Yevhen Borysov, the former head of Odesa Regional TCC and JV, from almost UAH 180 million to UAH 80 million.

The court made this decision after partially satisfying the request of his lawyers.

Previously, Borisov was in custody with the right to post more than UAH 400 million in bail. Then the amount was gradually reduced: First to 200 million, then to 179 million. And now - to 80 million.

The defense insisted that the risks of escape or pressure on witnesses were no longer relevant: Borysov has surrendered his passports, is off the military register, has no access to the property that is under arrest, and all the evidence in the case has already been collected. They also emphasized his health problems and the absence of necessary doctors in the pre-trial detention center. The lawyers asked either to release him on his own recognizance or to reduce his bail.

The court agreed with the arguments, taking into account the fact that Borisov has no criminal record, has minor children, a positive characterization and fulfills the requirements of the investigation.

If he pays the 80 million, he will be obliged to stay within the Odesa region, wear an electronic bracelet, not communicate with witnesses, and re-submit his documents for traveling abroad.

The ex-military commander is charged with organizing official forgery and transmitting false information that could harm the country's defense capabilities. Investigators suspect that his actions were aimed at avoiding mobilization by some individuals. The final decision on his guilt is to be made by the court.

What is known about Borisov's case

On January 25, SBI officers detained Yevhen Borysov, the former head of the Odesa Regional TCC and JV, in Kyiv. This happened after he was released on bail in the amount of UAH 39.364 million.

In May, Borysov had already tried to leave the detention center, using a bail of UAH 12 million. However, the DBR brought a new suspicion against him and detained him again.

In November, it became known that in the pre-trial detention center, Yevhen Borysov tried to obtain a disability group.

Earlier, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation completed an investigation into the criminal proceedings against the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, Yevhen Borysov , for forgery of documents.

Last year, journalists conducted an investigation and found out that the family of the head of the Odesa Regional TCC and JV purchased real estate and cars worth millions of dollars on the Spanish coast. And this was during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

At first, Borisov himself said that he was "not aware" of the family's property in Spain, and then that his wife was engaged in retail trade there and he did not "get involved" in these matters.
