On Friday, August 1, at 14:00, a court hearing was held to consider appeals in the criminal proceedings against the attackers of Kherson MP and activist Kateryna Handziuk.
Former head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Vladyslav Manger, one of the defendants in the case, who is currently being held in custody, said he wanted to go to work. The court considered the possibility of releasing Manger to serve in the 129th Separate Tank Brigade, whose commander had signed a written consent in advance. The defenders of this decision argued that there was no risk of the accused's escape in the army.
In April, the initiative 'Who Killed Katya Handziuk?' wrote that the commander of the military unit A7382 (39th separate coastal defense brigade) allegedly called Vladyslav Manger to service, and he stated in court that he would soon submit a petition to the Ministry of Defense on the need to call him up. However, the Ministry of Defense promised that if Manger's conscription did take place, the process would be immediately terminated, and an internal investigation would be conducted against the initiators.
On December 27 last year, the Kyiv Court of Appeal began a hearing in the case of the murder of civil activist and MP Kateryna Handziuk. The court continued to consider the appeals of the defendants Vladislav Manger and Oleksiy Levin, planning to consider the defense's motion to question witnesses and re-examine the evidence. The attack on the activist took place on July 31, 2018, and was initially classified as "hooliganism", and later - as "intentional grievous bodily harm".
