Another building to be restored in Odesa after enemy drone attack

Odesa has launched a process to find a contractor to restore a multi-storey building at 8/4 Shevchenko Avenue. This is the second residential building that suffered from an enemy attack in January.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.

The customer was the Department of Municipal Economy of the Odesa City Council. The auction is scheduled for October 10 in the format of open bidding with special features, which provides for shorter terms than before. Bids are currently being submitted. The budget for the works is estimated at UAH 4 million 743 thousand. All works should be completed by the end of December 2025.

Earlier, the department announced a tender for the restoration of a high-rise building at 8B Shevchenko Avenue.

According to the technical documentation, the five-story building at 8/4 Shevchenko Avenue is to be restored to walls and internal partitions, the roof is to be replaced, and new windows and doors are to be installed. It is also planned to strengthen the façade and arrange a ramp to ensure accessibility for people with disabilities.

During the nighttime drone attack on January 17, the debris from the downed drones and the blast wave damaged residential buildings and property in Odesa. Among them, a five-story building suffered the most, with almost all of its windows smashed.

In addition, a gas pipe in a five-story building caught fire, and apartments on three floors were on fire. Cars parked nearby were also damaged.

130 people were evacuated from the building, and a mobile heating station was set up at the site. Psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided assistance to local residents. As a result, the facade of the building was partially destroyed over an area of 100 square meters. The blast wave also damaged eight cars, and four more burned to the ground. Three people were injured.

Meanwhile, Odesa has re-announced a tender to select a contractor to repair the apartment building at 24 Serednya Street that was hit by the missile.

Also, the Department of Municipal Economy of the Odesa City Council signed an agreement with Pylon West LLC to restore an apartment building at 54 Akademika Zabolotnoho Street that was damaged by a drone.
