An official at a water utility in the Odesa region was issued a citation for broadcasting in Russian

A report was filed against the deputy director of the municipal enterprise “Bilhorod-Dnistrovskvodokanal” for using the Russian language while performing his official duties. The official conducted live broadcasts from accident sites in the language of the aggressor country.

This was reported by Anna Nerush, a representative of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.

According to her, the deputy director of the municipal enterprise hosted live broadcasts on his Facebook page. He explained the causes of the emergencies and the next steps, and addressed other employees in Russian.

Anna Nerush noted that the man did not provide any explanation regarding the situation. He also failed to appear at the hearing on the case. 

A report was filed against the official for violating the law on the working language of government agencies.

For violating the language law, the official faces a warning or a fine ranging from 3,400 to 6,800 hryvnias. If he is caught doing this again within a year, the penalty will increase to between 8,500 and 11,900 hryvnias.

As reported by Intent, the Artsyz City Council issued two administrative citations for the use of the Russian language during plenary sessions. Only the mayor and one of the council members admitted to violating the language law, while the rest of the officials refused to provide an explanation.
