A court has ordered the detention without bail of a man who was arrested in Odesa on suspicion of collaborating with the enemy and treason under martial law.

This was reported by the press service of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in May of this year, the suspect established contact with a representative of the Russian Federation’s special services via the Telegram messenger to carry out subversive activities in the region. The man supported Russia’s armed aggression, held anti-Ukrainian views, and sought the occupation of the Odesa region.

The enemy agent offered the suspect a monetary reward of 4,000 hryvnias for assistance in registering a Starlink satellite communication terminal. The aim was to add the device to the so-called “white list.” In early 2026, Ukraine introduced a verification and registration system for these terminals, which allows for monitoring their circulation and preventing the use of such communication devices in the interests of the aggressor state.

The handler sent the man the terminal details, which needed to be registered and verified through a postal operator. Shortly thereafter, the suspect arrived at a post office, where he registered the account provided to him and the Starlink terminal. During the registration process, a branch employee informed the man that registering satellite communication devices through third parties could be exploited by representatives of Russian intelligence agencies for activities detrimental to Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Despite this, he completed the registration of the terminal. On the same day, half of the funds were transferred to the perpetrator’s bank card, and the next day, the other half was transferred to the card of his partner, who was unaware of the suspect’s criminal plan.

Earlier, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office also referred to court a case involving a man and a woman from Izmail, who are charged with treason during martial law, committed in collusion. The 36-year-old man and his 28-year-old partner were opponents of Ukrainian statehood, desired the occupation of the Odesa region, and therefore decided to side with the enemy.

They began communicating with a representative of the aggressor state on Telegram and, in early February 2026, were tasked with officially registering Starlink satellite communication terminals on Ukrainian territory in exchange for money.
