A young man from Odesa region rescued a friend from the rubble and received an award from the State Emergency Service

In June 2025, Odesa region was shaken by a tragedy - a Russian missile hit the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi lyceum, killing three people and injuring more than ten, including two teenagers. One of them, 16-year-old Mark, showed incredible courage.

This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, on Telegram.

The boy not only managed to get out of the rubble on his own, but also saved his friend despite his own injuries. For this deed, the head of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast presented the young man with a badge '<b>For Courage in an Emergency'</b>.

Mark, who dreams of devoting his life to the rescue service, has become a true example of courage and bravery for adults. His deed is the pride of Odesa region and a symbol of unbreakable strength in the face of the enemy.

The residents of Izmail, who suffered as a result of Russian aggression, were provided with assistance. The Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council has decided to provide financial support to the residents of the city who suffered on August 20 as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The victims who are undergoing or have undergone inpatient treatment will receive a one-time financial assistance of UAH 20 thousand from the budget of the Izmail city territorial community.

Police officers from Mykolaiv region who were killed in the line of duty during a full-scale war were awarded the highest state awards. Police Captain Yaroslav Lukianenko and Police Lieutenant Yurii Kravchenko, who died on February 26, 2022, were awarded the Presidential Award "For the Defense of Ukraine" (posthumously).
