Olha Teteria, a 21-year-old correspondent from Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region, was filming stories for the enemy while working for the Tavria propaganda TV channel, which operates in the temporarily occupied territory.
According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, on December 16, the Kherson City Court sentenced her in absentia. Teteria is from the village of Pervomaiske, Zhovtnevyi district, Mykolaiv region. She currently lives in the village of Bohdanivka, Kakhovka district, was trained at a media school under the guidance of a Russian tutor and began collaborating with the enemy in 2022.
Investigators documented numerous videos she shot in favor of the occupiers and accused her of conducting information activities in support of the aggressor. Witnesses said that Teteria was in regular contact with the Russian military and openly supported the occupation.
"She maintained friendly relations with the Russian military, communicated with them, and repeatedly cycled to their positions during the summer of 2022. In the fall of 2022, she came to Kherson to study and became a correspondent for the Russian channel Tavria, saying that there would be no Ukraine here, but Russia," the witnesses said.
The court sentenced her to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. In addition, she will not be able to work in the government for 15 years. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
Meanwhile, the Kherson regional organization of the NUJU expelled four members from its ranks for collaborating with the occupiers or traveling abroad during the war. Among those expelled are local historian Yuriy Bezukh, who participated in the activities of the occupation authorities, and Tetiana Nazarenko, who collaborated with the Russian administration.
Vitaliy Vybransky, who fled to Russia, and Andriy Kucheryavy, a former radio announcer who left the country after the invasion, were also expelled from the Union.
Earlier, Intent wrote that the editor-in-chief of the occupation media holding "TRK Crimea" publicly supports the occupation authorities of the peninsula.
