In Mykolaiv, a court found a local resident guilty of illegal possession of military ammunition and drugs. At the same time, he was released from punishment with a probationary period due to his service in the army and sincere repentance.

This is evidenced by the decision of the Mykolaiv District Court.

In Mykolaiv, the trial of a local resident who illegally stored military ammunition and drugs in large quantities has been completed. The man, a 62-year-old native of the city, who was unmarried, unemployed and had a minor child, was at the center of criminal proceedings due to unregistered possession of ammunition and grenades, as well as cannabis.

According to the investigation, by November 12, 2024, the man had illegally purchased 598 rounds of 5.45 mm ammunition and a fragmentation hand grenade RGN, which he kept at his home. In addition, more than a kilogram of cannabis and cannabis extract were found in his possession. These findings were the result of a search conducted by law enforcement officers in his home.

During the trial, the accused fully admitted his guilt. He explained that he had brought the grenade and ammunition from the combat zone along with his personal belongings after he was injured. He also noted that he used the drugs exclusively for personal use to calm down after the contusion he received in the fighting.

According to the case file, the man was excluded from military registration for health reasons and is now applying for a pension. The court noted that he has received awards for his service, including the Golden Cross, which symbolizes recognition of the heroism and dedication of a serviceman.

The court, taking into account the defendant's sincere repentance, his health condition and services to the country, decided to release him from punishment with a probationary period of one year. The ammunition seized from the man will be transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the drugs will be destroyed in accordance with the procedure.

In addition, the court ordered the man to periodically register with the probation authorities, report any change of place of residence or work, and not to travel outside Ukraine without permission.

In another case, the court handed down a sentence to a military officer who was found guilty of illegal possession and sale of weapons and ammunition, as well as drug possession. The man served under mobilization as a drone operator in a reconnaissance platoon.
