A saboteur who wanted to kill an employee of a defense company is detained in Odesa

On July 5, a car driven by an employee of a defense company was blown up in Odesa. The suspected saboteur has already been detained.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecutor's office, the explosives were placed under the car seat of an employee of a defense contractor. As a result of the explosion, the driver was injured but survived and is receiving medical care.

The suspect who planted the explosives was also detained. He was a 22-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia region who had previously been convicted and recruited by Russian special services.

The SBU added that he probably planted a pre-prepared improvised explosive device under the car specified by the curator. The detainee also installed a phone nearby and broadcast the moment of the explosion online.

The man has been served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - a terrorist act. The prosecutor's office sent a motion to the court to take him into custody.
