A preventive measure was imposed on a resident of Kherson region suspected of justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine and denying the occupation of Ukrainian territories. The man was placed under nightly house arrest.

The decision was made by a judge of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

According to the investigation, in February-June 2025, he was in Kherson and posted pro-Russian comments on Telegram.

SBU investigators found that the man used his own account in the Telegram messenger and left messages in chats of pro-Russian channels and groups. In his comments, he denied the temporary occupation of Ukrainian territories and spread Russian propaganda narratives.

In particular, in February 2025, in one of the chats, he wrote that Kherson region was allegedly part of the Russian Federation, and also stated that the right-bank part of the region was "still under Ukraine."

In March, they discussed the news that military aid to Ukraine would not be resumed as long as Zelenskyy remained president. The defendant wrote:"It's all just that... these nits will scrape a lot more, and the shelling of civilians will continue. They don't care about all the showdowns between the leaders. They just need to continue the "cleansing" of Ukraine according to the plan, as they stated at the beginning of their campaign."

He also commented on the missile attack on Darnytsia in Kyiv:"What's the big deal? Do I have to be in Russia or on Russian-controlled territory? And what about all the slogans: "Kherson residents, wait, we will soon liberate you, we do not abandon our own!" So we are waiting."

In addition, the man left another comment in which he actually supported the Russian invasion and called for the continuation of the so-called "cleansing of Ukraine," referring to plans that, according to him, were announced at the beginning of the war.

Investigators qualified the suspect's actions as justification of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. During the court hearing, he pleaded guilty, but asked not to be held in custody and to choose a more lenient measure of restraint. The prosecutor requested custody, but the judge ordered house arrest. According to the ruling, the man is obliged to stay at home every day from 22:00 to 06:00. The preventive measure was set to last until April 5, 2026.

Also, the head of a poultry farm, Ihor Ruban, who in the summer of 2022 became the head of the occupation village council in the Kherson region, placed racists in the homes of villagers and stole property, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
