How to adopt an animal

All animals under the center's care are placed under a contract. The animal is pre-chipped. Chipping is paid and costs 478.14 UAH. If you have documents about receiving a benefit, you will not have to pay for the animal's chipping. After you have signed the contract and received the animal's chip number, you will need to register the animal: enter the chip number and your data. Subsequently, after thelaunch of the Unified State Register of Pets, your data will be automatically transferred to the register.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the number of stray animals, especially dogs, has increased significantly on the streets of Mykolaiv. Many residents, leaving their private homes due to the hostilities, could not take their pets with them, so they let them go outside, hoping that they would find a better life. There were also citizens who were engaged in unorganized rescue of animals from Kherson, bringing them to Mykolaiv and simply releasing them into the street.

In November 2024, Mykolaiv decided to reconstruct the center for stray animals. The main goal is not only to improve the conditions of their detention, but also to improve the quality of life of animals and to form a culture of humane treatment among citizens. They plan to spend almost 60 million hryvnias for this purpose.
