A lawmaker from the Kherson region was sentenced to 10 years for working for the occupiers

A former member of the Kalanchak Town Council in the Kherson region was tried for collaboration. She was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Office in Kherson Oblast.

The case involves the former secretary of the Kalanchak Town Council and a councilwoman of the 8th convocation. After the occupation of the community in May 2022, she voluntarily agreed to work for the occupation administration.

The woman assumed the so-called position of deputy head of the Kalanchak Military-Civilian Administration.

According to the SBU, in this role she worked with local residents, disseminated information about the activities of the occupation administration, and participated in organizing payments in Russian rubles.

The collaborator also participated in the distribution of so-called “humanitarian aid” and demanded that local business owners reissue documents in accordance with the rules of the occupying authorities.

The court found her guilty under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—collaboration.

She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, barred from holding relevant positions for 15 years, and had all her property confiscated.

The verdict was handed down in absentia.

As previously reported by Intent, a court in Odesa sentenced a man found guilty of working as an investigator for the occupying law enforcement agency in Kherson. The defendant denied his guilt, but the court sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

Meanwhile, a court in Mykolaiv imposed a pretrial restraint measure in absentia on the former deputy head of the occupation pension fund in Kherson. The woman voluntarily took charge of the unit on the Russian side and is currently in hiding in the temporarily occupied territory.
