Prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region have discovered a spontaneous landfill on the territory of a military camp in Odesa.

This was reported by the press service of the special prosecutor's office.

Mixed household waste was illegally accumulated on a 96.6-square-meter plot of land. This caused the territory to become polluted and the amount of harmful chemicals in the soil to exceed the level that poses a danger to the environment and human health.

Experts estimated the environmental damage at almost UAH 1.7 million. The prosecutor's office responded to the identified violations of environmental legislation and filed a lawsuit in the interests of the state and the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District. As a result, during the proceedings, the land plot was brought back into proper condition and the proceedings were closed.

In September, the Administrative Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court refused to open cassation proceedings against Clear City LLC, finding that there were no legal grounds to review the decisions of previous instances.

In June, specialists of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District found three unauthorized landfills in the villages of Avanhardivska village community in Odesa Oblast.

Earlier, the owner of a land plot on the territory of the dilapidated former Karl Liebknecht Palace of Culture on Svobody Avenue in Odesa removed an unauthorized landfill.

The Tairova village council of Odesa district also eliminated an unauthorized landfill on its territory. In February 2025, inspectors found a dump of used tires and construction waste near the Tairovo cemetery.
