A doctor raised the flag of the Russian Federation over a children's sanatorium in Kherson and was imprisoned in a detention center in Mykolaiv

Kherson residents reported suspicion of aiding the aggressor state - during the occupation, she headed a medical institution created by the occupiers and raised the flag of the Russian Federation over it. The woman was taken into custody.

This is stated in the decision of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

A citizen of Ukraine who voluntarily took the position of "acting chief physician" in an institution created by the Russian occupation administration during the temporary occupation of Kherson was served a notice of suspicion of aiding the aggressor state. This is a fake institution called the Kherson Regional Children's Pulmonary Sanatorium "Dnipro", created by the occupiers instead of a legal Ukrainian institution.

The investigation found that the woman was aware of the fact of the occupation of the city and the effect of Ukrainian legislation, in particular the order of the Kherson Regional Military Administration to transfer municipal medical institutions to a remote mode. Nevertheless, in July 2022, she accepted an offer from representatives of the occupation administration and agreed to manage the illegal sanatorium.

In this position, the suspect organized economic and financial activities in accordance with Russian standards, hired employees, approved salaries in rubles, and kept accounting records in accordance with Russian laws. In addition, she ordered the installation of the Russian flag on the roof of the building, publicly demonstrating subordination to the occupation authorities.

On June 5, 2025, the woman was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - aiding the aggressor state. The investigator filed a motion to keep her in custody without the possibility of bail, arguing that she was at risk of fleeing to the occupied territory, where the suspect has ties to former officials of the occupation authorities.

The court granted the motion and ruled to take the suspect into custody for 60 days - until August 3 inclusive.

Also, a 43-year-old resident of Nova Zburyivka in the Kherson region, Oleh Burlakov, was found guilty of high treason for collaborating with the occupiers. In 2022, he agreed to head a fake school created by the invaders on the basis of the seized Novozburyivka lyceum, where he had previously taught biology.
