In the Kherson region, a court found the director of a construction company guilty of conspiring with the director of a contracting firm to embezzle public funds allocated for the construction of the Administrative Services Center in Nova Kakhovka. The court sentenced him to eight years inprison and ordered the confiscation of his property.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region.

The contract for the construction of the facility was never fulfilled. However, an advance payment amounting to 30% of the total cost of the work was credited to the general contractor’s account. The funds were transferred through affiliated companies and misused. The amount of damage caused to the budget totals over 5.8 million hryvnias.

The investigation established that, in addition, during the course of the work, the convicted man and his accomplices repeatedly misappropriated budget funds by overstating the volume of construction work actually performed. Based on false reporting documents, an additional 63,000 hryvnias was unjustifiably transferred for work that was never performed.

Earlier in the Odesa region, an indictment was filed against a female official from one of the region’s village councils. According to the prosecution, the woman was involved in financial fraud during the reconstruction of a sports field. According to the case file, in 2021, the village council entered into a contract with a contractor to renovate a mini-soccer field for nearly 2.3 million hryvnias. Work under this contract never actually began, yet the official, who was serving as acting chair of the village council at the time, signed certificates of completion for the work.
