A cadet of the Odesa Military Academy rescued a 9-year-old IDP from Luhansk region. The boy fell through the ice on a river in Rivne region while walking.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Military Academy.

In the Rivne region, a first-year cadet of the Odesa Military Academy, Oleksandr, rescued 9-year-old Mykhailo, an IDP from Luhansk region, who fell through the ice on a local river. The incident could have ended in tragedy if not for the quick reaction of the future officer.

It all started during a walk before classes at a music school. Suddenly, the ice under the child's feet broke up, and Mykhailo found himself in the icy water.

Oleksandr happened to see the situation when he was passing by the river. The cadet did not lose his cool: he calmly lifted the boy out of the hole, despite the fact that the ice continued to break under the child's weight. After the rescue, Oleksandr walked Mykhailo to school, helped him take off his wet clothes and warm up.

The victim's mother, Olga, called the incident "God's will" and expressed her gratitude to the cadet. She noted that thanks to Oleksandr's quick actions, her son avoided serious consequences and remained healthy.

After the accident, the boy invited his savior and his classmates to a concert at the music school. The future officers presented the boy with an autographed flag and a remote-controlled toy tank. Mykhailo performed without a single chill, and his family and teachers once again thanked Oleksandr for his heroic deed. The cadet himself remained modest: he noted that anyone would have done the same in a similar situation.

Last year, police and rescuers spent several hours searching for three teenagers. Boys aged 14 and 15 from a village in the Krasnosilska community fell through the ice on a local pond and died.

Also on July 28, a boy went missing in Chornomorsk during a storm. At the time, the mayor of Chornomorsk said that on that day, rescuers pulled 50 people out of the water, including 10 children.
