<span><span><span><span><span><span>The Royal Scottish Geographical Society has awarded the title of honorary member to journalist Jen Stout, who has shed light on the realities of wartime life in Ukraine. The reporter covered stories from Odesa, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, and frontline positions. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The reporter traveled thousands of kilometers and visited the front lines. She covered the war notonly in the context of the conflict but also in relation to the history and culture of the Ukrainian people. </span></span></span></span></span></span>
<span><span><span><span><span><span>Jen Stout’s journalistic work has been published in leading outlets, including BBC Radio, the London Review of Books, Prospect, and the Sunday Post. </span></span></span></span></span></span><span><span><span><span><span><span>In May 2024, she published her debut nonfiction book, *The Night Train to Odesa*, which received high praise from critics and won a number of literary and journalism awards for its portrayal of the human dimension of the war, the resilience of the Ukrainian people, and their culture. </span></span></span></span></span></span>
<b>The</b><i>Royal Scottish</i><b>Geographical</b><i>Society</i>(RSGS) is a scientific and educational organization founded in 1884 and headquartered in Perth, dedicated to the advancement of geographical science, environmental research, and the dissemination of knowledge about the world. The Society brings together scholars, travelers, and journalists; organizes public lectures; publishes <i>the</i> academic journal <i>*Scottish Geographical Journal*</i>; and awards prestigious prizes for significant contributions to geographical discoveries, nature conservation, and coverage of important sociopolitical and humanitarian issues.
Previously, a poem by Ukrainianpoet Yulia Musakovska about the ecocide in the Kherson region gained international recognition on three continents at once. In addition to the Asian award, her works were also honored in the United States and Europe in 2025. In the United States, the poet received the Diana Der-Govanessian Award from the New England Poetry Club for her translation of Maria Titarenko’s poetry. In Estonia, translator Anna Vershik was awarded the prestigious August Sang Prize for her translation of Musakovska’s poem “A Magnolia Blooms in a Stranger’s Garden.”
