The Moldovan Customs Service announced that the "Palanka–Mayaki–Udobne" border crossing has temporarily suspended operations for technical reasons.

According to Moldovan customs officials, the issues stem froma problem with the information system of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.

Customs officials recommend that travelers choose alternative border crossing points in advance, specifically the "Tudora" checkpoint.

The "Palanka–Mayaki–Udobne" road border crossing is one of the busiest routes on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, as it is located on the M15 highway (Odesa–Reni).

This route connects the Odesa region with Moldova, Romania, and other EU countries. A distinctive feature of the “Palanka” checkpoint is that it operates under joint control: Ukrainian and Moldovan border guards and customs officers work together on Moldovan territory, which usually speeds up procedures; however, in the event of technical malfunctions on either side, operations at the entire checkpoint come to a complete standstill.

In December 2025, the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported a temporary suspension of border crossing operations at the “Reni” checkpoint. This occurred due to a malfunction in the industrial power supply, which prevented the control and accounting devices from starting up, as well as issues with the operation of backup power generators. Then, as a result of a Russian airstrike in the Odesa region on the night of November 11, the cities of Izmail and Reni came under attack. In Reni, power was cut off due to a fire at a substation. Local residents were told that repairs would take up to two days. According to DTEK, 16,000 households were left without power at that time.
