Mykolaiv plans to build a modern complex for sorting household waste. The project will be implemented by the winner of an open tender held by the city authorities.

The implementation of the project will significantly improve the environmental situation and reduce the amount of solid waste currently disposed of at the city landfill, the Mykolaiv City Councilreported .

According to the results of an open tender announced by the city authorities, the winner was West Tu Energy Niko LLC. According to the company's director, the company plans to implement this project entirely at its own expense, investing between UAH 150 million and UAH 200 million. Construction is scheduled to take 13 months.

Once completed, the complex will sort waste, sending recyclables for recycling and non-recyclable waste to a landfill. It is expected that the city will receive 10% of the profits from the sale of recyclable materials. In addition, the project can open access to international grants, green financing, and improve the city's investment attractiveness.

In Mykolaiv, they plan to use construction waste to make new materials for the city's reconstruction. The raw materials will be taken from a construction waste recycling plant that has been operating in the city for two months.

In addition, in December 2024, Mykolaiv received the first batch of equipment for the future plant, including a trommel, a machine for sorting inert materials. And in early 2025, Japanese partners handed over another batch of equipment to the city for cleaning up construction waste and eliminating the effects of shelling. The total cost of the equipment provided by Japan exceeded 1.5 million euros.
