More than 180,000 companies are registered in the frontline regions of Ukraine. Of these, more than 43 thousand are located in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

This is evidenced by the data of the Opendatabot monitoring service.

According to the Ministry of Reintegration, 180,253 companies are registered in the frontline territories of Ukraine, which is 13% of the total number of businesses in the country. Of these, 14% of companies are located in the area where active hostilities are taking place. Most of these companies are concentrated in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Overall, there are more than 1.4 million companies in Ukraine, and 180,000 of them are registered in the frontline areas.

Among these companies, 1,100 operate in the areas where active hostilities are taking place and where all state registries are disabled. Another 25,000 companies (14%) are located in areas where state electronic resources are available. Most businesses - 153 thousand - are registered in regions where there is a possibility of hostilities.

The largest number of companies is in Kharkiv region - over 69 thousand, which is more than three percent of the total number of frontline businesses. Zaporizhzhia region has half as many companies - about 32 thousand.

Mykolaiv region ranks third, with 27,346 businesses, or 15.2 percent. Kherson region has 16,108 registered companies.

Ukrainian companies also filed more than 18 thousand applications for trademark registration in 2024. The largest share of applications (37.4 percent) is for trademarks related to advertising and business activities. Popular trademarks are related to education and entertainment services (13.9%), and pharmaceutical, medical and veterinary products (11.1%).

In Ukraine, company founders are increasingly inclined to manage their businesses personally. While in 2017, more than 71% of owners were actively involved in management, by 2021 this figure had dropped to 64%. However, in the first year after the start of the full-scale invasion, the number of owners willing to be additionally involved in management increased again, reaching almost 73 percent.

In addition, more than 19 thousand new individual entrepreneurs have been registered in southern Ukraine. In the first eight months of 2024, almost 194 thousand new individual entrepreneurs appeared in the country. In particular, 12,839 companies were opened in Odesa region, 5,096 in Mykolaiv region, and 1,746 in Kherson region.
