The Security Service of Ukraine detained a man in Odesa on suspicion of cooperation with Russian special services.

According to the SBU, the offender was preparing coordinates for a new series of missile and drone strikes on the city.

The enemy's priority targets were the temporary bases of the units of the united assault brigade of the National Police "Rage", which perform tasks on the southern front. The occupiers also planned to strike at the locations of mobile air defense fire groups.

Investigators found out that in order to obtain the geolocation for the attacks, the Russian special service remotely recruited a 63-year-old Odesa resident who agreed to cooperate in exchange for money. To carry out enemy missions, he regularly went around the city, where he covertly photographed military facilities under the guise of walking. The agent sent intelligence to the aggressor by e-mail.

The SBU officers documented the suspect's intelligence activity step by step and detained him when he was conducting additional reconnaissance near a military facility. Additional measures were also taken to secure the base of Ukrainian troops. During a search of the detainee's apartment, SBU officers seized a cell phone and computer equipment with evidence of criminal activity.

SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The detainee is in custody. If the man's guilt is confirmed, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the court found guilty an Odesa resident who served under the call sign "Santa" in an illegal armed unit of the "LPR" - the so-called 14th Battalion of Territorial Defense "Primara" (in Russian, "Ghost").
