Mykolaiv pyrotechnics were assisted by colleagues from four other regions. There are 12 SES brigades in the region, including teams of mechanized, underwater, mine-search and pyrotechnic demining.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region.

As of now, pyrotechnics have surveyed 7723 hectares of territory. In the region, sappers have found and destroyed 25,655 explosive items.

Currently, manual demining remains one of the most common methods of detecting and destroying explosive devices in Mykolaiv region. This is an important area of work for the SES of Ukraine units, as it helps to improve the safety of local communities and facilitates access to damaged infrastructure facilities for emergency services.

Manual demining begins with a thorough survey of the area using metal detectors. This process requires great care, as every meter of land needs to be examined in detail. If the device detects a suspicious object, the deminers mark the spot and use special tools, such as probes and shovels, for further investigation.

If a dangerous object is found, it is transported to a special landfill for destruction by controlled explosion. If transportation is not possible, destruction is carried out on site. Thus, step by step, Mykolaiv region is being cleared of explosive remnants of war.

Recently, a dangerous cluster munition was destroyed and a grenade was seized in Mykolaiv region. Local residents reported to the police a suspicious object similar to an F-1 grenade near the village of Dobra Krynytsia and a cluster munition near the village of Shyroke. The explosive items were located in dangerous proximity to residential areas.

Most of the work on demining agricultural land took place in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. In August, sappers surveyed 23.4 thousand hectares of frontline areas. Since the beginning of the year, sappers have surveyed and cleared more than 200,000 hectares of fertile land. In particular, in August, farmers gained access to more than 20 thousand hectares of cleared land.

Despite the enormous scope and results of the searches, Mykolaiv region remains one of the most heavily mined. In the summer, sappers and divers found 150 explosive items, surveying the seabed over 40.3 hectares. Underwater findings range from conventional artillery shells, cluster munitions and even anti-tank mines. There are also river mines that have washed up on the banks.
