On September 1, a group of employees of Odesa utilities went to build fortifications in the Donetsk direction.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa municipality.

According to the mayor's office, all utility workers are participating in the business trip voluntarily and are provided with personal protective equipment.

"Everyone is going only of their own free will. We have fully equipped them with bulletproof vests, helmets, tactical first aid kits, etc. We are also sending the necessary equipment," said Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.

In early August, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk visited Mykolaiv region and found out that the construction of fortifications in the region has been completed by 100%. In March, builders of fortifications installed 5,000 concrete pyramids - the so-called "dragon's teeth"- in Odesa region.

Prior to that, the acting director of the Department of Capital Construction and Roads of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Yegor Chiksheev, said that the Odesa Regional State (Military) Administration planned to build more than 50 fortifications in the region, including those located in the sea area and unrecognized Transnistria.

According to him, the construction of these structures is a continuation of the construction of military facilities that began in 2022.

A little later, the head of the Odesa Regional State (Military) Administration, Oleh Kiper, released photos of the construction and renovation of defensive fortifications in Odesa region.

However, this became a major problem for many residents of the region. In June, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, stated that people were expressing their dissatisfaction and demanding compensation for the loss of land. At the time, the head of the regional military administration emphasized the need to comply with the orders of the General Staff, noting that it concerned national security.
