In Odesa region, the financial director of a company decided to "save" on export taxes. Through her fraud, she avoided paying almost UAH 100 million to the budget, for which she will now have to answer in court.

This was reported by the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security.

According to detectives, the financier did not include in her tax returns for the first half of 2024 part of the profit received from the export of 75 thousand tons of wheat, corn, soybeans and barley. The products were exported by sea to India through the ports of Odesa region.

The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office added that the amount of products actually sold and the company's income were many times higher than officially reflected in the tax return. As a result, the state budget did not receive more than UAH 97 million in taxes.

Despite the fact that the compensation of the losses caused to the state was provided in full, the case of the company's financial director was sent to court on the fact of intentional tax evasion in especially large amounts (part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Such a crime is punishable by a fine of up to UAH 425 thousand with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.

Recently, it became known that the financial director of an enterprise in Odesa region will be brought to trial for tax evasion. Thanks to his scheme, the exporting company owed the state more than UAH 19 million, for which the detainee will be held liable.

Earlier, an agricultural export company that had been evading taxes for some time was exposed in Odesa region. Such actions caused damage to the state budget in the amount of over UAH 12 million.

The BES detectives also completed a pre-trial investigation into the intentional tax evasion on a particularly large scale by a company exporting agricultural products, namely wheat and corn.
