In Kherson region, medical facilities have repeatedly come under attack by Russian occupation forces. Therefore, the region is doing everything to save lives.

This was announced by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin.

In his post, the official said that the basements are being equipped not only with shelters where employees and patients can go down during alarms, but also with safe intensive care units and rooms for long-term patients.

Such a shelter has already appeared in one of the city's hospitals. It has recently completed repairs, installed the necessary medical equipment and is now fully ready to receive patients. The wards can accommodate more than 20 people. In case of a power outage, the shelter is equipped with backup power sources - a generator and a Tesla Powerwall battery.

The official noted that this is the first facility to be built as planned. The Kherson regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and their partners helped to arrange and carry out the repairs.

Earlier it was reported that a bomb shelter in one of Kherson's medical institutions had been restored and re-equipped to provide medical services. Four rooms in the shelter were repaired, the corridor walls were tiled, and five interior doors and a metal-plastic structure were purchased and installed. The total cost of the repairs is over UAH 930 thousand.

The mechanism for implementing the construction of the underground hospital and prenatal center was also discussed during a meeting between UN Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown and the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin. During the meeting, projects to restore social infrastructure, including the construction of an underground hospital and a prenatal center, were presented to the international community.
