Support for communities in southern Ukraine discussed in Odesa

Representatives of the Kherson region joined the South Ukrainian Forum "Cities of Solidarity".

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional State Administration.

The post noted that the event, which took place in Odesa, became a platform for strategic dialogue between the communities of Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions. The forum was attended by representatives of the authorities, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and experts.

The press service added that a significant part of the discussions was devoted to social integration tools. The participants discussed the importance of IDP councils in resolving housing issues and employment of IDPs. They also discussed the adaptation of the elderly through initiatives such as the University of the Third Age.

"We also focused on the modernization of the service delivery system. The participants considered the prospects for funding based on the principle of "Money Follows the Person," the introduction of assisted living services and the development of mobile services, including field teams of ASCs and social services," the statement reads.

Among other things, they discussed the creation of specialized centers and public spaces, attracting donor resources, and cooperation with national and international partners to support communities.

The forum was organized by Stabilization Support Services with the support of the United Nations Refugee Agency in Ukraine (UNHCR).

The press service also said that the IDPs from Kherson region underwent a comprehensive medical examination in Odesa. The on-site preventive examination took place at the local humanitarian center "Free together".

It is noted that the reception was conducted by a team of doctors from Odesa region. The team consisted of a mammary oncologist, an oncologist, a urologist and a family doctor. A mobile clinic, a mobile mammologist's office, and an X-ray machine were used to provide high-quality diagnostics. Visitors could undergo fluoroscopy, take rapid tests and get professional advice. Medical care was provided to both adults and children.

The press service added that the Kherson centers of "Free together" continue to operate in 11 Ukrainian cities.
